2023년 첫 개인전 《Silent Regards》 이후 리나 갤러리 《Peace from Above》를 비롯해 네 차례의 개인전을 열었고, 2026년 여름 갤러리밈에서 개인전 《Calling from the Eye of the Storm》을 선보였다.

Artists
▶ KWON Inkyung
A room of one’s own that becomes singular by remaining open, as the line between inside and outside blurs.
KWON Inkyung (b.1979) received her BFA, MFA, and PhD in Oriental Painting from Hongik University. For nearly two decades, she has explored place and memory through hanji, ink, and a collage technique using pages cut from old books. Selected for the Seoul Museum of Art’s Emerging Artist program in 2013, she held her first solo exhibition, Heart-Land, that year, and she received the SONGEUN Art Award in 2017. Her works are held in the Art Bank of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, the Yangpyeong Art Museum, and private collections in Italy, Washington, and Hong Kong.
The artist cuts up old books, pastes them onto hanji, and lays ink and acrylic over them again and again. Sentences someone read a century ago settle at the bottom of the surface, and above them stands a room holding life in the present day. Like the layers of paper and paint, memory for the artist does not fade with time but builds up, layer upon layer. Having long focused on individual lives within the vast city, her gaze has gradually moved toward the room, the smallest unit of a life. The room in her paintings then grows beyond its walls into a forest. Plants that began in a pot spread across the inside and outside of the room, and the once-closed inner world becomes a dense green, a shelter that embraces what is precious.
▶ NOH Kyounghee
Canvases that condense memories of the forest, lived through the body, across a long passage of time.
NOH Kyounghee (b.1982) graduated in Western Painting from the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University and completed her MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. Climbing mountains in every season, she carries the memories of the forest she has lived through her body onto canvas after a lapse of months, sometimes years. Since her first solo exhibition, Silent Landscape, in 2008, she has worked between Korea and London. She was selected for the Jerwood Drawing Prize exhibition in London, and her work is held in the Art Bank of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, the Seoul National University Museum of Art, and the Gangnam-gu Office.
Her paintings draw us into the very scenes the artist once saw. One step brings birdsong, another brings a rush of wind. As the beauty of the forest leads our eyes into the farthest corners of the canvas, we catch a glimpse of the artist’s days, spent never setting down her brush until each scene had settled onto the canvas. Filled with branches and vines, moss and rock, light and shade, her canvases seem to carry the primal energy of the forest itself. In a precision that makes each blade of grass seem to sway in the wind, a moment in the forest, far from the noise of the world, stays in the heart forever.
At ART TAIPEI 2026, she presents 2026_02 and 2026_03, which capture the density of Southeast Asian rainforests, and 2025_01, which unfolds the blooming and fading of apple blossoms on a single canvas.
▶ LEE Jiyoung
Surfaces where tens of thousands of repeated lines build up into the time of a life.
LEE Jiyoung (b.1980) received her BFA and MFA in Oriental Painting from Sungshin Women’s University. Since her first solo exhibition, Zoo, in 2006, she has held more than ten solo exhibitions, and her work is held in the Seoul National University Museum of Art, among others. Her work has been featured in the Korean high school art textbook Art Creation and on the cover of the Korean edition of Daughters of the Stone, published by Open Books.
Starting from the Korean painting tradition centered on the expression of line, the artist builds up fine pencil lines on jangji paper, repeating them tens of thousands of times. Before the density of lines that leaves no gap, we are first overwhelmed by the care within it. Just as small efforts pile up into a steady daily life, each repeated line is both a record of the movements that carry a day forward and part of the artist’s unceasing practice. Within that density, people run, leap, and throw themselves into the water. Made of the same lines as the background, the figures seem to rise out of it and sink back into it, with no boundary in between. They are people of today, each moving at their own pace within the fence called society. No finish line is given to them. The artist’s gaze rests not on where the journey ends, but on this very moment, as the body moves toward it.
▶ Manwook
A world of coexistence where gender, humans and animals, machines and life are entangled without hierarchy.
The ecosystem of the present moment, drawn through painting, print, and machines.
Manwook (b.1975) studied sociology at Ajou University and began painting outside the institutional art education system, building a visual language of her own oriented toward coexistence. Since her first solo exhibition in 2019, she has held more than fifteen solo exhibitions, including Weed Sanctuary at GalleryMEME’s M’CUBE in 2024. That same year, she was introduced as an artist selected by DAZED KOREA at the Galleries Art Fair in Suwon. Machines have been a central subject of her work since 2019, and since 2025 she has been experimenting with GenPrint, AI-generated prints created together with the audience from image prompts she designs.
In her paintings, humans, animals, and machines live together. The three appear side by side, free of hierarchy, and the more we look for the line between human and animal, machine and life, the more it blurs. Every being is woven into a single mesh, each a symbiont of the others. Before this world, the artist poses a quiet but persistent question: who is raising whom? Her fluorescent palette, borrowed from the language of advertising, steps deliberately away from the conventions of academic painting. A girl with a mustache, a man in a flowered swim cap, creatures that might be bears or rabbits, all mingle on the canvas. It may look like disorder, but it holds a balance of its own, a rule of no rule. Bringing back to the center what has been pushed to the margins, such as weeds pushed out of the frame and animals left behind, the artist extends her world.
At ART TAIPEI 2026, she presents new works that reveal her artistic world, including My Friend Is a Humanoid, in which lines are carved with a chisel into oil paint on wood panel.
▶ Mothfly
Garibong City, a fantastical city inhabited by characters drawn out of doodles.
Mothfly (b.1985) graduated in Visual Communication Design from Gachon University and worked for years at an editorial design company and as a freelance graphic designer. During a time spent drawing only to meet other people’s needs, the artist began filling a notebook with doodles in search of a story of their own, and that notebook became the starting point of the current practice. Since the first solo exhibition, Made in Garibong City, in 2023, Mothfly has held five solo exhibitions in three years. The artist was selected as an Urban Break Seoul Open Call artist in 2024, placed fourth on Hwa100, MBN’s artist survival program, and was chosen for Attention Now at the Ulsan International Art Fair in 2025. In March 2026, Mothfly stepped onto the international stage at Art Central Hong Kong.
Doodling is the core material of the work. In lines drawn wherever the hand goes, the artist discovers forms that feel unfamiliar yet unmistakably their own, then adds imagination and carries them onto the canvas. Born this way, Mae Dubuck, Park Jonbuh, and Shin Moohak each hold a part of the artist: the past, the present, and a belief the artist calls perhaps trivial. Garibong-dong, where Mothfly spent their childhood, became the characters’ hometown and was rebuilt as a fictional stage called Garibong City. Its stories of aliens, monsters, and spaceships come from memories of childhood TV shows and the videos rented every weekend.
The closer we come to the lively canvases of vivid neon colors, the more characters pop out one by one that were not visible at first. Beneath the bright surface lie the anxiety and loneliness, hope and resignation met along the way of living. The artist hopes these feelings can roll around the canvas like toys, becoming light enough to hold for a moment and then set down, believing that the greatest resistance to tragedy is, in the end, jokes and humor.
▶ PARK Sebin
Surfaces of soft light, built from layer upon layer of bunchae and gouache on cotton and jangji.
PARK Sebin (b.2001) graduated from the Department of Oriental Painting at Hongik University. Layering bunchae (powdered mineral pigment), gouache, hobun (shell white), and white clay on cotton and jangji paper, she paints scenes of solace offered to beings caught in fear and waiting. Since her first solo exhibition, Silent Regards, in 2023, she has held four solo exhibitions, including Peace from Above at Lina Gallery, and presented Calling from the Eye of the Storm at GalleryMEME in summer 2026. She was selected as a Curator’s Pick for Artsy Foundations 2025 and has taken part in exhibitions in Korea and abroad, including the San Francisco Art Fair (2025, 2026), COLLECTIBLES at Shinsegae Gallery Centum City, and Montage of Love at Ttukseom Art Museum. Her practice also reaches beyond painting, with works featured in the art book Life Stills (Victionary), as well as covers and illustrations for Millie’s Library and album cover art.
Moving beyond the conventions of traditional Oriental painting, the artist searches for new pictorial possibilities. Blending Eastern and Western materials, she builds up thin layers again and again. While keeping the seeping translucency and flatness of Oriental painting, the accumulated pigments create a sculptural sense of depth on the surface. Centered on “complex temperature” and “eternal light,” her landscapes are scenes she has captured directly, infused with visual and metaphorical light. They begin from feelings anyone can share, yet leave room for each viewer to find a story of their own. The time of healing and reflection that emotion and memory create as they linger on the canvas is the solace she offers.
